Ever since 2011, Sesam Braudhús artisanal bakery has been guided by the goal of producing premium bread and pastries from quality ingredients. We strive to create a pleasant atmosphere and provide personal service.

Our master bakers have a combined decade of experience producing luxurious handcrafted bakery products. We are an artisanal bakery, so the use of large machines is limited. Here, everything is fixed by hand as much as possible, so we can truly offer the craftsmanship of the master.

Sesam Braudhús is the only operating bakery in the whole of East Iceland.

In Fjarðabyggð, spectacular fjords and majestic mountains are only a fraction of the best. Culture and diverse human life are no less memorable for those who visit the municipality. One by one, the low-rise fishing villages line the coastline, each with its own town feel and interesting peculiarities.

There are seven town centers in the municipality and they are usually named after the fjords or bays they stand at. However, it is not uniform. Neskaupstaður in Norðfjörður is the most populous settlement, with around 1,500 inhabitants, while the smallest is Brekkuthorp in Mjóafjörður with 15 inhabitants. Eskifjörður has a population of around 1,000 and almost 1,300 live in Reyðarfjörður. Fáskrúðsfjörður has a population of around 700, Stöðvarfjörður has around 200 people and Breiðdal also has around 200 people.

Fjarðabyggð is based on a strong foundation in terms of employment and value creation. The Gjöful fisheries are off the coast of Austfjörður, and the fishing and processing of marine products is one of the mainstays of the economy, along with aluminum production and related service industries. Trade and services also play an important role, and tourism has grown rapidly in recent years. The importance of agriculture in Fjarðabyggð also increased in 2018 with the merger of the municipality with the agricultural district of Breiðdal.
